EDGE OF LIGHT
When light crosses the Event Horizon of a black hole the gravitational pull becomes so great that escape is impossible. This is the point of no return.
This body of work consists of a series of kinetic installations exploring the Event Horizon and photographs capturing the light produced by the installation at different times. This freezing of a moment in time mimics the slowing down of time which we would perceive if we were able to observe a black hole. If an object was to cross the event horizon its image would appear trapped on its surface for eternity. As humans we struggle with the concept of time being relative and the concept of eternity. I hope that by making the installation interactive and the images visually stimulating, the viewer will want to understand and support our progressions in this field of science.
This series of photographs were captured directly from the original installations.
